All Chatham
Academy students benefit from a curriculum that is
delivered through the use of research-based programs
and instructional strategies designed and modified
for our students with a range of learning
differences and styles. Chatham Academy's curriculum
is based on the student's developmental readiness to
master the skills and concepts involved in acquiring
proficiency in each subject area. Students receive
instruction and reinforcement within a highly
structured curriculum framework until they are
prepared for independent application.
Teachers, in consultation with administrators, and
parents, develop an Individual Academic Plan
for each child based on an assessment profile.
teacher observation and curriculum expectations.
This plan outlines programs, instructional
strategies, accommodations, adaptations and
curricular modifications designed for student
success. Many of the students' skills are reinforced
through the review of key concepts. Our students
become independent learners through a curriculum
that provides a structured sequence of skills
constantly reinforced and applied across the
curriculum.
Chatham Academy is dedicated to meeting the
educational needs of children with different
learning styles. Chatham Academy believes that a
student’s self-concept, attitude and past
experiences affect the daily learning process of
that child. Teaching academic skills, appropriate
daily behavior and social skills are an important
part of the curriculum. |
