Chatham Academy educates students in
grades 1-12 with learning differences. Through the
use of specialized teaching techniques, small
classes and consistent expectations we help students
learn at their potential level. Students are grouped
in classes according to their age and skill level
with these types of classes. Teachers can provide
individualized goals while providing small group
instruction.
Our methods and most successful with
children who have been unable to succeed in the
traditional classroom because of attentional,
organization, or academic difficulties. While some
students have been diagnosed with ADHD & LD, others
seem to have unexplainable difficulty in traditional
education. Our methods are designed to provide the
external structure these students need to succeed at
their potential level.
In the elementary and middle
school years, learning to learn and basic skills are
emphasized. In high school, students take courses
required for graduation, but can also pursue either
a college preparatory or practical studies
curriculum. Preparing students to be self-sufficient
adults and citizens is an important part of our
curriculum. |
