We would like to
tell you about Chatham Academy, our role as an
independent school and our plans for the future.
Chatham Academy is the only school in Southeast
Georgia dedicated to the education of children with
learning differences. We provide a specialized
curriculum and support services to build academic
skills, develop confidence and improve the
performance of our students.
As we work toward fulfilling the vision of our
Strategic Plan for the future, we are transforming
our school structure into that of a traditional
independent school, while remaining true to our
mission of providing individualized education to
children with learning differences.
Financial support for most independent schools
traditionally comes from three sources: Tuition, the
Annual Fund and the Endowment Fund.
Tuition covers the majority of a student’s
education, which includes teacher and staff
salaries, benefits, insurance, building and grounds
expenses and basic curriculum materials.
The Annual Fund addresses educational enhancements
to our curriculum, extracurricular programs and
supplemental materials for specific study units.
Currently, the dollars raised help to purchase extra
materials for art and science labs, curriculum
materials for history and math, and specialized
reading programs. It also helps to support cost of
specific units of study such as the Coastal Ecology
and Economy curriculum. |
