Our
23rd annual fundraiser, The
Benefit, was a huge success once again! The event raised $123,000 to support
the programs of Chatham Academy. The Savannah area Rotary Clubs,
our Board of Trustees,
our parents,
staff
and many friends
of Royce in the community attended the black tie affair. Over 400 patrons cruised
the Silent Auction
area, looking for that perfect bargain. The auction displayed over 200 diverse select items-
something for everyone.
As
the Silent Auction
closed, the guests were seated in the ballroom for dinner. At the end
of dinner, the attention was directed to the stage area for a welcome
from our Board President, Dr.
Claudia Thomas. Before the live auction began, a
video of our Chatham Academy students brought the highlights of the
past school year to life.
Our
auctioneers for the Live
Auction, Mr.
Curtis Brannen and Mr.
Bo Eason, provided the guests with lots of excitement and
enthusiasm during the very competitive bidding. They were a great asset
to our auction this year. Our Live
Auction included a holiday
cottage in England, out-of-state stays, John Cougar Mellencamp’s
Scarecrow 24k gold plated record album, a little girl’s dream room,
exquisite jewelry, a weekend at a sailing school, hunting packages,
and many other get aways and entertainment packages.
This
year we had a cash
raffle drawing of $1,000. Top student sellers
were Harrison Lobel,
Stephen Lasky, and Matthew
Burton. Mrs.
Berkman’s class was the top seller with $1134 in ticket sales.
The total amount sold was $7,125.
Auction chairs included past and current staff and parents as well as
past and current Board of Trustee members. Plans are well underway for
The Benefit next year. We look forward to seeing all of you for an
evening to be remembered for many years to come!
